چکیده

In a study of the solubility of crystalline forms of cholesterol in various solvents, the solubilities (per cent by weight) of cholesterol needles and hydrated plates at 38#{176} were, respectively, 4.0 and 3.2% in olive oil; 2.6 and 1.9% in tetradecane; 26.2 and 9% in toluene; and 21.0 and 7% in cyclohexane. When these solvents are in equilibrium with an aqueous phase, needles are converted to plates. Pseudomorph (dehydrated) plates in olive oil have the solubility of needles. These differences may have significance in studies involving cholesterol pathogenesis. The modified Zak reaction with ethanol could not be used for the assay of cholesterol in olive oil since the reaction product was turbid. Higher alcohols were studied as a substitute for ethanol; 2-propanol was satisfactory.

Prediction of the pharmaceutical solubility in water and organic solvents via different soft computing models

Solubility data of solid in aqueous and different organic solvents are very important physicochemical properties considered in the design of the industrial processes and the theoretical studies. In this study, experimental solubility data of 666 pharmaceutical compounds in water and 712 pharmaceutical compounds in organic solvents were collected from different sources. Three different artificia...

Experimental and Computational Methods Pertaining to Drug Solubility

Solubility of a drug is one of its important physico-chemical properties. More attention has been paid to the aqueous solubility since water is the unique solvent of biological systems. It is obvious that a drug should be reached to its receptors in the body through the aqueous and non-aqueous media. The chance of a low water soluble drug to be appeared in the market place is very low and nearl...

Predicting Solubility of Isotactic Poly (1-Butene) in Different Organic Solvents by Modified UNIQUAC

The UNIQUAC activity coefficient model is extended to predict solid-liquid equilibrium of isotactic crystalline poly (1-butene), iPBu-1, in different organic solvents. The UNIQUAC activity coefficient model used in this work is based on the concept of group contribution and consists of combinatorial, residual and free volume terms. To account for branching of atom groups in the monomer structur...

Increasing Performance and Thermostability of D-Phenylglycine Aminotransferase in Miscible Organic Solvents

Background: D-Phenylglycine aminotransferase (D-PhgAT) is highly beneficial in pharmaceutical biotechnology. Like many other enzymes, D-PhgAT suffers from low stability under harsh processing conditions, poor solubility of substrate, products and occasional microbial contamination. Incorporation of miscible organic solvents into the enzyme’s reaction is considered as a solution...

USE OF ORGANIC SOLVENTS FOR THE ENHANCEMENT AND LIFETIME INCREASING OF LUMINESCENCE IN FLUORIMETRIC APPLICATION BY FLUORESCAMINE

In this study, the fluorogenic efficiency of fluorescamine for spectrofluorimetric analysis of primary amines was investigated. Different mixtures of dichloromethane and other organic solvents were used for evaluation of fluorescence stability and intensity of fluorescamine derivative (Pyrrolinone). Solvents such as acetonitrile (ACN), tetrahydrofuran (THF) and dioxane increase stability an...
